BU Golf scholars Robbie Thompson and Jordan Miles represented the university in the 69th Boyd Quaich tournament.
Played over 72 holes on the Old and New Courses at St. Andrews, affectionately known as the home of golf, the Boyd Quaich tournament dates back to 1946. It is comprised of 72 of the best university golfers from around the world.
Wind and rain on the first day proved difficult, with Jordan fighting hard for a round of 76 on the Old Course. Robbie was in a tie for 5th place with an excellent score of -1 on the New Course.
The next day began early with the boys playing the opposite course to the day before. Unfortunately, Jordan failed to make the halfway cut, which ended up being +4 for the 36 holes. Despite a difficult morning on the Old Course, Robbie snuck inside the cut line with a total of +3.
This meant another 18 on the New Course that afternoon, and 18 on the Old Course the next morning.
Robbie’s +4 on the New Course was a hard fought one, with 3 dropped shots in the last 4 holes.
He closed with a patient even par 72, leaving him in solo 23rd place for the tournament.
