London Edinburgh London is one of Britain’s greatest cycling challenges in which participants are supposed to cycle from London to Edinburgh and back in just over 100 hours.

Vedangi Kulkarni, will be representing Bournemouth University in LEL 2017. She will be on the start line at 3 pm on 30th July 2017, this is not a race, it’s a brevet!!! The official time limit to finish 1433km is 116 hours 40 minutes. She is aiming finishing it in or just above 100 hours. Training over the past several months included cycling the length of UK, reaching John O’Groats- the top-most end of Scotland in the Easter break, followed by a few more long bike rides throughout the south coast, Wales & around the Brecon Beacons all being completed in 2 days. Most of her training rides have been done through the nights on a loop of around 300-350 km.

Prior to coming to the university Vedangi had completed a tour in the Himalayas through several high altitude roads and mountain passes, the highest one being at 5359 metres.

After having done quite a few rides in the UK, she feels confident in completing the LEL attempt and which will be a monument us achievement, in her mind this is all part of her goal to attempt women’s world record for fastest circumnavigation around the world, 18000 miles within 140 days during her placement year.
