Hannah Geer is currently representing Bournemouth University and the Ladies Football Club (BULFC) during her trialling campaign to secure a team place for the England Universities squad.
Hannah started playing football at four years of age with her friends and at 13 trialed for the Hampshire Center of Excellence in Football. In the same year she was also part of the school team that won the Hampshire County Cup and traveled to Barcelona to play local teams. At 16 she joined Southampton Women’s Football Club and played until starting Bournemouth University in 2012. Hannah has been representing TeamBU over the past 3 years and has made significant developments in her game and part of the strong team performing each week. In her 3rd year placement she coached football in Australia and did an internship at AFC Bournemouth Academy where realised how much she had missed playing. She re-joined Southampton Women’s FC where Fran Alonso (currently at Everton) coached and helped to get her back on track. She stopped playing for Southampton this year to concentrate of her studies and to give full commitment to playing for BULFC. Hannah’s next leg of her journey continues with her trials to gain a squad space to represent England in the National University Team, a decision on her inclusion in the squad will be made at the end of this week.
Quote from the coach (Andy Boland):
Hannah has developed im
mensely as a player over the past 3 seasons, from a player not guaranteed to start games to one of the first names on the team sheet. This shift is testament to her dedication to team and personal training, she has embraced her areas for improvement and ensured a solid dedication to footballing matters on and off the field.
Hannah has the ability to play multiple positions, beginning as a forward, before moving to the flanks and eventually into an attacking full back role. She has the tactical and technical knowledge to play multiple positions, and has demonstrated a solid appreciation of the challenges provided by higher level football.
We are very happy to have Hannah as part of our squad, a truly excellent player who can continue to improve on her already bulging skill set.
