Bournemouth University Scholar Issa Batrane has been selected to represent Great Britain at the World University Beach Volleyball Championships.

I am really looking forward to going to the event. It is another great opportunity to go out to a big world competition and play some good volleyball and really try to do our nation proud. It’s awesome to get this senior GB call up and I feel it is down to the hard work and desire to keep pushing and looking to get better everyday. I just want to say thank you to everyone who has supported me and continues to support me as well as a huge thanks to Bournemouth University, along with my sponsors and partners
Now onto the hard work and other competitions into the build up before the games hosted in Parnu, Estonia in July.

Coach Lewie Lett: “We’ve made significant progress with the men’s development squad and the selection was really tough. We’ve had a number of players who are working hard, so Issa and Andy really had to push themselves to claim the top spots.
They showed the best consistency throughout the training camps as well as good mentality and physicality which is why they were ultimately selected.
This is the first time in a number of years that GB has had a team in this competition so we’ll be looking to go out there and be really competitive.
We have high standards and we are expecting some good results from Issa and Andy to see how far they can go.”
