As the match went on, it seemed BU were very much in the driving seat, with all 6 matches being up at 1 stage. When the winds calmed down as the matches hit the back 9, Exeter seemed to start staging a comeback. Captain Dan Haymes, got the 1st point on the board for Bournemouth from the back with a 4&3 victory over Exeter University’s golf captain, Jack Sears. Points from Brandon, out 2nd, and Josh, out 4th, put Bournemouth 3-0 up and on course for victory. However, an eventful last hole saw Oscar, out 1st, and his playing partner halving the last hole in 7 to put a 1st point on the board for Exeter. With Bournemouth only needing 1/2 a point out of the remaining 2 matches, Dave, out 5th, went 2 up with 2 holes to play, securing the victory for Bournemouth! Dave secured his victory on the 17th hole, with his 2nd shot ricocheting of the green side wall to finish 6 feet from the hole! With only 1 match to play, Lewis and his playing partner had a fair 1/2 to leave the final result finishing at 1.5-4.5 to Bournemouth 2’s, a very good away win for Bournemouth’s main rivals over recent years.
BU took this win into their second game of the week which saw the convincingly beat Plymouth 5-1. This win sees the side secure 2nd in 1A with still one game to play.
