The idea was to trick our mind into thinking it was cold.

We started the session with the usual routine of going around the circle saying our names and how we felt. When it got to my turn, I announced:
I am Amy Joy and I am feeling expectant and excited.

Liv asked us to go around the circle again, but this time, we had to say what we thought of the person on our right. Jadgev was on my right therefore I said:
Jadgev seems to want the best for his life.

Liv created a poem entitled, the emotion rainbow, she used some of our emotions from the last session. It sounded amazing hearing our different emotions coming together to form a poem

Each one of us were given the privilege to speak out one or more of the lines.
My lines:
Anger feels hot
Looks like lightning
Tastes like fire
Feels like an uncomfortable tall bridge

Together we informed Liv what we thought the values of a Paralympics were.
Respect, courage, inspiration, equality, determination, friendship, excellence:

We chose four of these values to create poems making them into a man or a woman, describing what they looked like, their clothes and their special powers. The words we chose for our poems were, respect and courage for a man, and determination and excellence for a woman. The boys in the group dominated the role of creating hilarious and unusual poems, while we girls chipped in our sensible ideas where we could.

Liv set the challenge for us to create our own poem using a word to describe a person. We needed to describe what they looked like, their clothes and their special powers. The twist was to base our poem on ourselves.

I chose ‘encouragement woman’ to be my person because I am an encouragement to many people.

Encouragement woman

Silky black hair and a warming smile from ear to ear,
A butterfly perched gently in her hair,
Dusky brown eyes and a nose with a powerful twitch,
One touch from her soft hands will change your life,

She wears a plain creamy jacket and bright red jeans,
Flat shoes with raindrops that resemble a new beginning,
Inspirational sticky notes cover her frame,
A bag full of surprises to give out,

The world is a better place when she is around,
meet her on the street, she will give courage,
she builds your self esteem and self confidence,
Makes you feel you are worthy to be loved,

Beware to be encouraged when her dusky eyes meet yours,
smell the fragrance of her peaceful aroma,
feel the compassion she has for you,
Choose a note and boldly fly away

What did I learn?

To be not shy to speak out my ideas, I should not care if people think they are strange, but I should be proud of what I come up with.

Our friend Cliché dragon was in our midst again.
