Dr. Caroline (Carrie) Hodges<\/strong><\/h3>\n

“I was inspired to work with Wendy and Lee-Ann in developing a collaborative project using artistic methods to provide ‘voice’ for seldom heard groups after visiting a youth-led community development projects in the Peruvian Amazon in 2010 where I was able to view at first hand the very positive effects that such activity can bring. In 2011. I led a research project which explored public attitudes toward disability and the representation of disability in the UK media. I am keen to extend my work in this area by collaborating with those with direct experience of disability to communicate ‘their story’.<\/em><\/p>\n

“I had been a Volunteer Youth Leader in my village. Through that experience and my work, I have become passionate about young people having the opportunity to be heard and understood. I think that young people get a bad reputation, sometimes deserved but mostly because they are not listened to – sometimes we speak different language. I think by using art and performance, young people will be able to express themselves and connect to the community.”<\/em><\/p>\n

Dr. Lee-Ann Fenge<\/strong><\/h3>\n

“I am keen to embrace creative approaches to research which encourage individuals to express their experience in a variety of ways including narratives, drama and film. I have previously been involved in projects which use participatory methods to work alongside users of services and their carers to ‘co-produce’ new knowledge and understanding. My interest in this area have grown out a commitment to engage with seldom heard voices in research and to help young people to communicate with society.”<\/em><\/p>\n
