Welcome to Rufus Stone the movie weblog!

Welcome to Rufus Stone the movie weblog! It’s a virtual space for both background and updates on the short film, Rufus Stone, being produced as the major output of our three-year research project on being gay or lesbian, growing older and life in the British countryside.  We hope that you will find this blog interesting and resourceful. We plan to update you on the film’s progress in this space over the next weeks and months.

We are currently entering the production phase of making our film.  After five years of planning and three years of research, we are about to embark upon creating the part of the project that was, in many ways, the raison d’être of the project’s birth: a professionally-made film that will reach a wide and diverse audience with research findings.

The director has been chosen and the production company engaged. The ‘treatment’ for the film is now complete and location scouting has begun. We are all now eagerly awaiting the final script which is in the hands of the director at the moment. Once we have that, the other people that make producing a film possible will be engaged and the actual making of the film can be set in motion.

We will be shooting in rural Dorset the week of 11 July. During that week we hope to have TV-style reportage from the shoot uploaded here on a daily basis so that you can follow our progress on this website. There will also be still photos and a documentary-style interview with the film’s director and executive producer.

So stay tuned! The adventure is just beginning (again!).
