Last week, ORI\u2019s Prof Tom Wainwright<\/a> had a fantastic opportunity to attend the international consensus meeting on wearables for measuring mobility in aging populations, held in Burlington, Ontario, Canada.<\/p>\n

This inspiring two-day event, hosted by the McMaster Institute for Research in Aging in collaboration with the University of Birmingham\u2019s School of Sport, Exercise and Rehabilitation Science, brought together experts from across the globe to develop best practices for using wearable devices to measure mobility in the context of inclusivity through aging.<\/p>\n

Tom said \u201ca huge thank you to Marla Beauchamp and Prof Afroditi Stathi, for their outstanding leadership in organising such a thought-provoking and collaborative event, and thank you to all the team for such great organisation and facilitation of the meeting.<\/em><\/p>\n

The discussions were hugely insightful, and it was awesome to hear the views and expertise shared by colleagues from around the world. I am excited about the forthcoming international consensus statement on this critical topic and for future work and collaborations from this group.<\/em><\/p>\n

I am especially grateful to the MyAge Research Network for nominating me to represent them at this event. MyAge\u2019s commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration and addressing the complexities of aging research fitted perfectly with the topic and aims of the discussions in Canada, and I am proud to have been able to contribute.<\/em><\/p>\n
