The study, published in the Journal of Evaluation in Clinical Practice, analyses data from 30,457 patients, focusing on demographics, co-morbidities, and patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) to predict postoperative satisfaction and improvement. Results indicate that dissatisfaction rates were 3.8% for hip and 9.2% for knee replacements, with certain preoperative factors linked to outcomes. The models, with moderate discrimination ability, may assist in future development of pre-operative risk stratification, and enhanced decision-making processes related to these surgeries.

Nuffield Health

In a recently published article, Prof Robert Middleton and Prof Tom Wainwright have collaborated with colleagues from Nuffield Health and the University of Leicester, to develop prediction models for patient-rated satisfaction and improvement following hip and knee replacements.
