Mr Vivek Gulati

Date of Fellowship: January 2016 to December 2017.

Current Appointment(s): Consultant Orthopaedic Hip & Knee Surgeon, Homerton University Hospital

Biography:

I am a substantive lower limb arthroplasty consultant at Homerton University Hospital, London. I qualified from St. John’s College, Cambridge University in 2003. I carried out my registrar training on the prestigious North West Thames circuit. During this time I carried out a higher Masters degree at Imperial College where I carried out biomechanical projects to look at Osteoarthritis causation.

Comments on time as Prof Middleton (ORI) Fellow:

This was a world class fellowship which provided the perfect platform to consolidate and advance my hip surgical skills prior to becoming a consultant. I performed  large numbers of hip replacements with exposure to revision surgery (re construction of hip replacements when they wear out or fracture). Professor Middleton was an excellent teacher and mentor during this time. His leadership and guidance were critical at this pivotal time in my career.

I also carried out research one day a week at ORIBU culminating in a research hip review publication in Hip International.
