Date of Fellowship: October 2019 to October 2020

Current Appointment(s): Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, University Hospitals of Sussex

Biography:

I completed my undergraduate training at the University of Leicester Medical School in 2005. I stayed in the Midlands for my foundation years after which I moved to Leeds (Yorkshire School of Surgery) in 2007 for my core surgical training. In 2009 I began my trauma research fellowship at the University of Leeds, under the supervision of Prof. PV Giannoudis, achieving a postgraduate degree, Doctor of Medicine, in 2015. My speciality training in Trauma & Orthopaedics took place in London/Essex, North-East Thames deanery with rotations based around the Royal London Hospital, Whitechapel. I joined Prof Middleton’s team at Royal Bournemouth & Poole Hospitals for my Hip arthroplasty fellowship in 2019. In March 2020, during the first wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, I served as acting consultant and trauma surgeon at Poole Hospital for six months to help deal with the increased pressure on our trauma services. I joined the team at St Richard’s Hospital, as a consultant in December 2020 and hope to use my expertise in lower-limb arthroplasty and trauma surgery, to serve the local community.

Comments on time as Prof Middleton (ORI) Fellow:

I learnt a great deal under Prof’s tutorship. The finer points of pre-operative planning, clinical assessment, surgical management and managing and communicating with patients and colleagues holistically.
