It is the annual meeting of scholars, historians and interested practitioners from around the world to present papers and discuss the history of public relations.<\/p>\n<p>At the first conference 34 peer-reviewed papers\u00a0were presented by speakers from\u00a013 countries. The keynote speakers\u00a0were leading\u00a0public relations historians Dr Karen Miller Russell, University of Georgia, and Dr Jacquie L\u2019Etang, (then)\u00a0University of Stirling. A selection of conference papers\u00a0were\u00a0published in a special issue of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.emeraldinsight.com\/journals.htm?issn=1363-254x&amp;volume=15&amp;issue=3&amp;PHPSESSID=oatlbb57bpmss2lo0896ctu982\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Journal of Communication Management<\/em>, Vol 15, No. 3,\u00a02011<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In 2011, the second conference\u00a0attracted 28 papers presented from 15 countries. The keynote speaker was eminent US\u00a0PR historian and journal editor, Ray E. Hiebert. Eight\u00a0papers\u00a0were\u00a0chosen from the conference for a &#8216;Public Relations and History&#8217;\u00a0special section in\u00a0<em>Public Relations Review<\/em> <a title=\"September 2012 edition (Vol 38, No 3).\" href=\"http:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/journal\/03638111\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">September\u00a02012 edition\u00a0(Vol 38, No 3).<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The 2012 conference featured a keynote address by Prof Dr Gunter Bentele of Leipzig University, who discussed aspects of historiography. He was followed by 33 peer-reviewed papers presented by speakers from 14 countries.\u00a0Selected papers were published as a Public Relations History 2013 special edition\u00a0\u00a0of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/journal\/03638111\/39\/2\"><em>Public Relations Review<\/em> (Vol 39, No. 2), June 2013<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In 2013, the conference\u00a0attracted a record number of abstracts\u00a0 and 35 authors from 17 countries presented papers.The keynote speaker was IHPRC&#8217;s founder Prof Tom Watson of Bournemouth University. Some papers were published in another <em>Public Relations Review<\/em> special issue on Public Relations History in mid-2014, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/journal\/03638111\/40\/4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Public Relations Review<\/em> (Vol 40, No. 4), November 2014<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>IHPRC 2014 was the fifth anniversary conference. Some papers from the conference were published in a History of Public Relations special issue of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tandfonline.com\/toc\/hprr20\/27\/3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Journal of Public Relations Research<\/em>\u00a0(Vol 27, No. 3)<\/a> in June 2015.<\/p>\n<p>The sixth conference, IHPRC 2015, had the highest-ever number of papers presented: 42 presentations from authors in 20 countries. Papers will be published in a <em>Public Relations Review<\/em> special issue on Public Relations History in 2016.<\/p>\n<p>In 2017 the seventh IHPRC brought again PR history aficionados together to discuss among other areas of PR historiographical interest an additional theme of the &#8220;her-story&#8221; of public relations. Some papers will be included in the History of PR special issue of the <em>Journal of Public Relations Research<\/em>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Dates for IHPRC 2019 are June 26-28, 2019<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The venue\u00a0is Bournemouth University&#8217;s\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/business.bournemouth.ac.uk\/about\/executive_business_centre.html\">Executive Business Centre<\/a> (EBC) in 89 Holdenhurst Road, Bournemouth BH8 8EB. Situated near the town\u2019s mainline rail station, with its direct connections to London, the EBC is a short walk from Bournemouth\u2019s famed sandy beaches and hotels. There\u00a0are also express coach services from London and major airports to Bournemouth, stopping close to the EBC.
