Researchers at Cardiff University have been developing VR home rehabilitation for knee pain.<\/p>\n
Their idea is to find innovative solutions to\u00a0delivering even better quality of healthcare and outcomes for patients with knee pain.\u00a0\u00a0One approach is the use of virtual reality, which\u00a0makes it possible to assess patients in an interactive safe environment which can be\u00a0changed in a\u00a0dynamic fashion to gather insight on human movement during\u00a0unexpected movement, as\u00a0observed on the sport field.<\/p>\n
Alongside this the research team have been studying the use of wearable sensor based technology that is affordable and can be used in the clinic.\u00a0\u00a0This is to\u00a0help patients and physiotherapists have a\u00a0better\u00a0understanding of the day to day movement\u00a0restrictions individuals experience due to their pain.<\/p>\n
This innovative way of working can be used to help plan personalised physiotherapy treatment programs that patients can interact with at home and increase patient confidence to engage with treatment.<\/p>\n
