Educators and their students can now be part of a beta program to create their own Google Expeditions virtual reality experiences. The opportunity was\u00a0unveiled this week at\u00a0Bett<\/a>, the world\u2019s largest educational technology show here.<\/p>\n

Classes enrolled in what Google calls its \u201cpioneer program\u201d will be able to create their own immersive virtual experiences with a 360-degree camera and the Google app.<\/p>\n

Many schools around the world already use Google Expeditions on mobile devices in virtual reality\u00a0viewers to give students virtual field trip experiences, from\u00a0swimming through coral reefs to exploring Machu Picchu, from visiting Antarctica to soaring with the International Space Station.<\/p>\n

Making\u00a0a virtual reality\u00a0\u201cworld\u201d for the first time has been designed to be easy, said Jennifer Holland, the lead program manager for Expeditions and G Suite for Education. \u201cIf you know how to type, you\u2019re good to go.\u201d<\/p>\n
