What is LEAP?<\/span> LEAP is BU’s process for unit development.\u00a0 It consists of a 2-3 hour workshop, typically undertaken with staff from the same department, during which visualisations of units are created.\u00a0 Each visualisation shows how the learning activities are arranged in the unit, how they link to the ILOs, how many different learning types are used, the balance between face-to-face and online learning and also how the unit is formatively and summatively assessed.<\/p>\n

When to use LEAP<\/span>.\u00a0 LEAP works very well in new unit creation, programme revalidation and also where tutors want to review and improve their unit, perhaps seeking ways to incorporate a more blended approach or embed different approaches such as team based learning or the flipped classroom.<\/p>\n

How can LEAP help me?<\/span>\u00a0 During the sessions, CEL staff are on hand to provide support on assessment and feedback options, technology enhanced learning, exploiting Brightspace, online learning, large group teaching, curriculum design, share best practice from across BU and more. The workshops are hosted by CEL and we bring all the materials needed.\u00a0 Staff leave the workshop with their units on an A1 piece of paper and the resources needed to carry on the work, often with other staff who teach on or are linked to the unit, perhaps because they teach in previous or later semesters.<\/p>\n
