CEL Education for Sustainable Development Teaching Award 2018 \u2013 Now open for applications!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Images of plastics in the environment are dominating the headlines.\u00a0\u00a0 What do you see in this photograph that you could use, or are already using, to educate your students about the UN Sustainable Development Goals<\/a>?<\/strong>\u00a0 Depending on your viewpoint:<\/p>\n

Professor Debbie Holley, Head of CEL said, \u201cLast year we ran the second Sustainable Development teaching award and received some great examples of what you are doing to inspire our students to learn and think about the world around them and how they can make a difference. We look forward to welcoming our sustainability award winners at our afternoon prize giving on the 13th June, where they will join us celebrating excellent learning and teaching across BU\u201d.<\/p>\n

We have embedded sustainability in BU2025 and the strategy requires, \u2018All academic departments align their programmes with the challenges facing society and the world and all our departments, professional services and cross-BU align co-curricular and extra-curricular opportunities with those challenges\u2019.<\/p>\n

The UN Sustainable Development Goals underpinned the development of the strategy and provide a road map for tackling the grand challenges facing society (http:\/\/www.un.org\/sustainabledevelopment\/sustainable-development-goals\/<\/a>)<\/u>.<\/p>\n

What will you win?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Successful applicants will be awarded an \u2018Excellence in Sustainable Teaching\u2019 certificate and be able to send \u00a375 of goods to a local charity. These will be awarded at the CEL annual \u2018Celebrate\u2019 Learning and Teaching Event on Tuesday 13th June 2018.<\/p>\n
