Come along and support us.. this is an inclusive event for all<\/p>\n<p>=======<\/p>\n<p>We are delighted to announce this year&#8217;s WAN IWD lunchtime event consisting of three sessions. The first at 12.00-13.00 is a guest speaker talk by Josie Fraser. Josie is a social and educational technologist who currently works as Senior Technology Adviser on HM Government\u2019s National Technology Team. Josie is a popular keynote speaker, for example, please see her talk \u2018In the valley of the trolls\u2019 forhttps:\/\/altc.alt.ac.uk\/2016\/sessions\/keynote-josie-fraser\/#gref<\/p>\n<p>Josie\u2019s IWD talk at BU will focus on cyber bullying and harassment of women and girls.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Title: Speaking Out Online: \u2018all your base are belong to us&#8230;\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This talk, quoting a well known meme, will look the current and emerging range of forms of violence against girls and women (VAGW) online, arguing that the expansion of VAGW has followed (and continues to follow) the global embedding of mobile, gaming and internet technologies into daily life. In the context of recent online gender battles, Josie will outline some of feminisms strategic priorities for securing the longer-term future of the internet as a space for women and girls.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Title: Village Tales<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Our second session at 13.00-14.00 is a showing of a showing of WAN member, Dr Sue Sudbury\u2019s<strong> fascinating filmed documentary Village Tales,<\/strong> which used participatory research methodologies with village women in India.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, closing the WAN IWD for this year, renowned guest speaker, Professor Gr\u00e1inne Conole at 14.00-15.00 in F208<\/p>\n<p><strong>Title: From Chemistry to E-learning: an interdisciplinary journey<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In her talk Gr\u00e1inne be sharing invaluable advice on how to develop crucial skills for greater traction in forging a coveted international academic profile.
