{"id":7235,"date":"2018-02-20T14:22:06","date_gmt":"2018-02-20T14:22:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/microsites.bournemouth.ac.uk\/cel\/?p=7235"},"modified":"2018-02-22T08:50:17","modified_gmt":"2018-02-22T08:50:17","slug":"flipped-classrooms-and-flipped-pancakes-13-feb-18","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/microsites.bournemouth.ac.uk\/flie\/2018\/02\/20\/flipped-classrooms-and-flipped-pancakes-13-feb-18\/","title":{"rendered":"Flipped classrooms &#8211; the presentation launch of the BU touchscreens."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last week saw the launch of the first of BU&#8217;s new touch screens, and the pilot of the &#8216;talk to a Learning Technologist&#8217; lunchtimes 12.00-13.00\u00a0 in the Staff Centre at Talbot Campus.\u00a0 The event, including pancakes, started with a presentation by Professor Michael Wilmore,\u00a0Executive Dean of the Faculty of Media and Communication, on a flipped classroom approach that was used very successfully at Swinburne University, Melbourne.\u00a0 Michael gave an excellent demonstration of the new touch screen&#8217;s capability as he talked through the Prezi presentation on the process followed at Swinburne to develop units at the university.\u00a0 The process at Swinburne was aided by a clear focus on the benefits for staff in terms of time saving, teaching prizes and promotion opportunities.\u00a0 The Swinburne process is similar but more sophisticated than our new LEAP process and there are several ideas that we now plan to incorporate into LEAP.<\/p>\n<p>The presentation can be accessed here:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/prezi.com\/vlkfsouc_dd0\/?utm_campaign=share&amp;utm_medium=copy&amp;rc=ex0share\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">http:\/\/prezi.com\/vlkfsouc_dd0\/?utm_campaign=share&amp;utm_medium=copy&amp;rc=ex0share<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The theoretical framework:<\/p>\n<p>Kehoe, T., Schofield, P., Branigan, E. and Wilmore, M., \u2018The Double Flip: Applying a Flipped Learning Approach to Teach the Teacher and Improving Student Satisfaction.\u2019 Journal of University Teaching and Learning Practice.
