These included forensic science sessions, drama, puppeteering, bath-bomb making and a range of wildlife sessions. Sarah Smith, Primary Outreach Co-ordinator at BU said: &#8220;<em>Bournemouth Children&#8217;s University celebrates family learning and fosters a love of learning outside of the normal school day. It&#8217;s great to see these pupils having their confidence boosted through science and other activities while really having fun!<\/em>&#8221;<\/p>\n<div class=\"main page-content wrapper\">\n<section id=\"main-content\" class=\"page-content-container main-content\">\n<div class=\"region region-content\">\n<section class=\"block block-system block-system-main clearfix\">\n<div class=\"sidebar-second clearfix\">\n<section class=\"main-content node node-news view-mode-full clearfix\">Sarah noted that one of the highlights of the night was a young girl who is on the autistic spectrum who had been to every event and activity possible with her mother and younger sister.\u00a0 She is extremely shy and lacks confidence however she volunteered to speak about her\u00a0involvement with BCU at the ceremony. \u00a0She read her speech all by herself and in it she noted that she had enjoyed all the activities she had done, especially coming to the Design &amp; Technology Show on campus as she was able to see how science could solve problems in the world.\u00a0\u00a0 It was a really special moment!\u00a0 Her mother and teacher were both really proud of her and noted that she may not had been able to do that previously and BCU had really boosted her confidence.\u00a0<\/section>\n<section class=\"main-content node node-news view-mode-full clearfix\"><\/section>\n<section class=\"main-content node node-news view-mode-full clearfix\">If you would like to get involved or have any great ideas for family friendly workshops aged aimed at children 7-12 which we could deliver or get ambassadors to deliver (either as an 1hr After-School Club or longer Super Saturday on Campus) please get in touch with Sarah, who would love to hear from you:\u00a0\u00a0<a class=\"o365button ms-font-m\"><span class=\"_rpc_41 ms-font-s allowTextSelection ms-font-color-themePrimary _rpc_p1\">sarahsmith@bournemouth.ac.uk\u00a0<\/span><\/a><\/section>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This summer, Dr Sue Eccles was lucky enough to present certificates to 22 pupils from across four Dorset schools (Pokesdown, Bearwood, St Lukes and Heathland Primary schools) for their achievements\u00a0\u00a0in participating in a range of the out-of-hours activity sessions offered by BU.
