{"id":5270,"date":"2017-05-12T10:12:10","date_gmt":"2017-05-12T10:12:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/microsites.bournemouth.ac.uk\/cel\/?p=5270"},"modified":"2017-05-12T10:12:10","modified_gmt":"2017-05-12T10:12:10","slug":"widening-participation-guidance-for-academic-advisers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/microsites.bournemouth.ac.uk\/flie\/2017\/05\/12\/widening-participation-guidance-for-academic-advisers\/","title":{"rendered":"Widening Participation Guidance for Academic Advisers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www1.bournemouth.ac.uk\/about\/centre-excellence-learning\/our-research\/fair-access\/bu-fair-access-research-project\">Fair Access Research project<\/a> (FAR) has developed some guidance to support Academic Advisers when they are working with widening participation (WP)\u00a0students.<\/p>\n<p>The results of\u00a0a FAR staff survey in 2016 highlighted the vital role that Academic Advisers play in supporting members of staff in their engagement with WP students.\u00a0 The FAR team\u00a0worked with BU colleagues to\u00a0develop this Guidance Document which has been produced to support the Academic Advisers in the implementation of \u00a0good practice.<\/p>\n<p>The document\u00a0has now been disseminated and embedded within the Faculties for their general use<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/intranetsp.bournemouth.ac.uk\/documentsrep\/Widening%20Participation%20Guidance%20for%20Academic%20Advisors.pdf\">Widening Participation Guidance for Academic Advisers<\/a><\/p>\n<p>For more information about BU\u2019s innovative Fair Access Research, email the Principal Investigators <a href=\"mailto:vheaslip@bournemouth.ac.uk\">Dr Vanessa Heaslip<\/a> and <a href=\"mailto:chunt@bournemouth.ac.uk\">Dr Clive Hunt.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Part of the &#8216;Ways of Working&#8217; theme.
