{"id":4341,"date":"2016-11-14T05:37:17","date_gmt":"2016-11-14T05:37:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/microsites.bournemouth.ac.uk\/cel\/?p=4341"},"modified":"2016-11-17T05:46:42","modified_gmt":"2016-11-17T05:46:42","slug":"an-update-on-audience-response-systems","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/microsites.bournemouth.ac.uk\/flie\/2016\/11\/14\/an-update-on-audience-response-systems\/","title":{"rendered":"An update on audience response systems"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Over the last few months, we have been looking into a replacement for the TurningPoint clickers which have been in use for several years at BU.\u00a0 The clickers are frequently used to gain feedback from students in lectures and seminars based on multiple choice questions embedded into PowerPoint presentations.<\/p>\n<p>Almost all of the newer systems are internet-based and make use of student&#8217;s own devices ie smart phones, tablets and laptop to capture feedback.\u00a0 This makes the clickers redundant.\u00a0 We have been investigating online solutions including TurningPoint, Mentimeter and Kahoot.<\/p>\n<p>Given the imminent decision on the VLE, we are waiting for a month to see whether the VLE to be adopted includes audience response functionality which, if present and suitable to our needs, would make a separate system unnecessary.<\/p>\n<p>We will come back in December with an update on this work.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Over the last few months, we have been looking into a replacement for the TurningPoint clickers which have been in use for several years at BU.\u00a0 The clickers are frequently used to gain feedback from students in lectures and seminars based on multiple choice questions embedded into PowerPoint presentations.
