The Centre for Excellence in Learning (CEL)\u00a0played an active role during yesterday\u2019s Service Excellence Conference 2016 by hosting a fun session with technology in PG30a. During the afternoon session facilitated by Debbie Holley\u00a0and other technology experts, several participants had a thrilling experience with Oculus Rift, Virtual Reality Glasses, Google Cardboard, Augmented Reality and Virtual Roller-coasting.<\/p>\n\"Oculus<\/a> \"Augmented<\/a>\n

Feedbacks from the session were very encouraging and some of them highlighted how some of the technologies could be used to improve some services in BU:<\/p>\n

\"Feedbacks<\/a>\u201cUseful for Campus & Accommodation tours \u2013 project for those who can\u2019t travel or are nervous about communal activity or engaging with HE\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cCan post these out with welcome packs to enhance campus tours and pre arrival information\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cThis is the type of thing we need \u2013 more often students will love it\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cVirtual reality \u2013 great for collaborative projects and education\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cPlaying with virtual reality glasses is so fun! Would love to learn more\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cI just love what CEL is doing \u2013 it isn\u2019t just for academic activities. All of BU would benefit from your talents\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cA brilliant way to experience open days for those who can\u2019t come, especially our international students\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cCould be a great use for videos of accommodation for future students, especially international students \u2013 they can virtually walk through the halls of residence\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n
