{"id":2887,"date":"2016-03-02T15:24:26","date_gmt":"2016-03-02T15:24:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/microsites.bournemouth.ac.uk\/cel\/?p=2887"},"modified":"2016-03-02T18:59:51","modified_gmt":"2016-03-02T18:59:51","slug":"student-development-award","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/microsites.bournemouth.ac.uk\/flie\/2016\/03\/02\/student-development-award\/","title":{"rendered":"Student Development Award &#8211; stand out from the crowd"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The BU Student Development Award \u2013 stand out from the crowd<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Our Award supports students from all levels and all Schools in developing a range of employability skills that enable them to demonstrate workplace experience to potential employers.<\/p>\n<p>Students have the opportunity to achieve recognition in over 100 extra-curricular activities including<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Representation, Clubs &amp; Societies and BU Volunteering<\/li>\n<li>Personal &amp; Professional Development, Languages and Media<\/li>\n<li>Ambassador, PAL and Employment<\/li>\n<li>Sport, Art and Music<\/li>\n<li>Community volunteering, Business and Event Management<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These opportunities empower our students to develop skills that are essential to becoming successful throughout their career, encouraging life-wide learning and reflection, with the added bonus of creating an E-Portfolio of experience to present to potential employers.<\/p>\n<p>While involving themselves in a range of chosen activities, students build confidence in crucial attributes including<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Time-management<\/li>\n<li>Adaptability<\/li>\n<li>Collaborative working<\/li>\n<li>Problem-solving<\/li>\n<li>Intercultural awareness<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>and many more skills that employers value in graduates.<\/p>\n<p>In our students\u2019 own words:-<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;I&#8217;m so pleased &#8211; I&#8217;ve worked very hard and I&#8217;m so proud to have achieved this&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;This is fantastic &#8211; I&#8217;ve really enjoyed helping others to develop their skills and it&#8217;s helped me<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em> to achieve this success&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em> \u201cI\u2019m ecstatic!
