{"id":2823,"date":"2016-02-23T10:49:24","date_gmt":"2016-02-23T10:49:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/microsites.bournemouth.ac.uk\/cel\/?p=2823"},"modified":"2016-02-23T12:51:14","modified_gmt":"2016-02-23T12:51:14","slug":"cel-events-at-festival-of-learning-2016","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/microsites.bournemouth.ac.uk\/flie\/2016\/02\/23\/cel-events-at-festival-of-learning-2016\/","title":{"rendered":"CEL events at Festival of Learning 2016"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Centre for Excellence in\u00a0Learning will be running two events at the next <a href=\"https:\/\/www1.bournemouth.ac.uk\/news\/2016-01-06\/festival-learning-2016\">Festival of Learning 2016<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The first event captioned<em>&#8220;Education Matters: share your story&#8221;<\/em> will run from 11am &#8211; 4pm on\u00a0Sunday 26 June 2016 and\u00a0will consist of\u00a0series of stalls in the community (potentially in the Bournemouth Lower Gardens). As an\u00a0inclusive, participative and informal event, it will capture narratives of the people, occasions\u00a0and places that inspire or inspired learning in formal and informal contexts. Participants will contribute their narratives through a variety of media, creating a living archive of memories, perspectives, and highlights of their learning experiences that will potentially inform teaching practices at BU. The interactivity will involve\u00a0audio, video or written or drawn responses.<\/p>\n<p>Education is a common shared experience between all of us, but our learning experiences and memories of education will be very different.\u00a0 Join us to share your inspirational learning experiences \u2013 people, places or events \u2013 and help to influence learning and teaching for the next generation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">**************<\/p>\n<p>The second event will be led by CEL&#8217;s Postdoc Research Fellow Marcellus Mbah, alongside Michelle Heward as representatives of the Research Staff Association. As part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www1.bournemouth.ac.uk\/news\/2016-01-06\/festival-learning-2016\">FoL 2016<\/a>, the BU Research Staff Association (RSA)&#8217;s event captioned<em> &#8220;Making a difference through research: research with impact&#8221;<\/em>\u00a0will showcase the wider impact of a number of research projects across BU. Representatives from\u00a0 local organisations (council, NHS, charities) and the public will be able to connect with the wide array of research that spans across BU (including Business and Management, Tourism, Media, Education, Dementia and Health and Social Care), and explore how it informs policy, shapes professional practice, \u00a0and influence debates. The session\u00a0will last for three hours\u00a0from\u00a04pm \u2013 7pm \u00a0on\u00a0Tuesday 28 June and will take place in K103, Talbot Campus of BU.<\/p>\n<p>Research that makes a difference and responds to societal need is at the heart of BU\u2019s mission.\u00a0 Join staff from BU\u2019s Research Staff Association to learn about some of our innovative research projects and how they are changing the world beyond academia through informing policy, shaping professional practice and influencing debates.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Centre for Excellence in\u00a0Learning will be running two events at the next Festival of Learning 2016.
