Each exercise is designed to be led within a classroom environment with students undertaking a guided hands-on activity, improving skills such as prompting and evaluating AI output, and promoting open discussions around some of the benefits and challenges of these tools.<\/p>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/microsites.bournemouth.ac.uk\/flie\/files\/2025\/02\/AICoach.png\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-17516 size-medium alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/microsites.bournemouth.ac.uk\/flie\/files\/2025\/02\/AICoach-233x300.png\" alt=\"Screenshot of AI as a coach student exercise\" width=\"233\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/microsites.bournemouth.ac.uk\/flie\/files\/2025\/02\/AICoach-233x300.png 233w, https:\/\/microsites.bournemouth.ac.uk\/flie\/files\/2025\/02\/AICoach.png 721w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 233px) 100vw, 233px\" \/><\/a>\n<p>This week we&#8217;re focusing on\u00a0 &#8216;<a href=\"https:\/\/brightspace.bournemouth.ac.uk\/d2l\/le\/lessons\/294724\/topics\/2170371\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">AI as a Coach rather than Steroid<\/a>&#8216;. This exercise demonstrates to students the importance of critically appraising output from GenAI tools and avoiding off-loading higher-level thinking tasks to them. We&#8217;ve provided all the background information you need to run this confidently with your students, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the preparation you need to do in advance of the session<\/li>\n<li>clear steps on how to run the session<\/li>\n<li>the opportunities and risks to highlight to students<\/li>\n<li>an example prompt for your students to use<\/li>\n<li>a set of slides to introduce the session to your students outlining some of the key principles and supporting resources.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You&#8217;ll find the rest of the student exercises with our <a href=\"https:\/\/brightspace.bournemouth.ac.uk\/d2l\/le\/lessons\/294724\/lessons\/2162505\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">AI literacy training module<\/a> on Brightspace.<\/p>\n<p>Remember, students should never be forced to use AI tools; they may have legitimate data privacy or ethical concerns.
