Thank you to those who attended FLIE’s AI summit last week\u00a0 – we hope you enjoyed the presentations and the vibrant discussions that followed. 🙂<\/p>\n

Prof Liz Falconer shared how she has been enriching her online course tuition through the use of Harry, her AI chat bot designed to prompt students’ reflective practice through the use of Socratic questioning. Dr Chris Trace from the University of Surrey talked about their AI journey and how they are supporting staff and students with using these tools. Academic Quality updated on data and policy at BU. And FLIE and the Library team shared some of the support they have put in place in this area for BU staff and students.<\/p>\n

2. AI-resistant assessment strategies<\/strong><\/p>\n

This session will focus on assessment design and explores different methods for creating assessments that encourage authentic learning and limit the influence of AI tools. We will also introduce a tailored version of the ‘Top Trumps’ method, <\/span>providing<\/span> a range of assessment strategies designed for the AI era.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

3. AI Tech Chat: Helping students better prepare for the AI world<\/strong><\/p>\n

This session will focus on developing students’ understanding and skills in the responsible use of AI technologies. Through guided discussions and practical examples, we will explore how to prepare students for the evolving demands of the AI-driven world, ensuring they are equipped with the knowledge and ethical considerations needed to engage effectively and responsibly with AI.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
