For the next six weeks we\u2019ll be showcasing some of the H5P content available to inspire you to think about how this tool could be used for your Brightspace online content.\u00a0 We have a limited number of licences in our pilot so your faculty Learning Technologist will be more than happy to create the content in collaboration with you, the subject matter expert.<\/p>\n
This week we\u2019re looking at Interactive Videos<\/h2>\n
The interactive video tool is a great way to add additional interactivity or explanations to an existing video.\u00a0 H5P also allows you to embed formative style quiz questions into the video to test student knowledge.<\/p>\n
Simply import an .mp4 video file or embed an existing video hosted on Panopto.<\/p>\n
The example below is one video, taken from a series of videos, created within the Life and Environmental Science department in SciTech.\u00a0 Rather than speech narration, text boxes overlay the video at key points to instruct students on the safe use of the lab equipment.\u00a0 As the video nears it’s end, viewers are then prompted to complete a formative multiple choice question followed by a summary dialogue to test their knowledge of the video they just watched.<\/p>\n

As well as being a great tool for creating instructional videos on using equipment or completing tasks, it can also be used to prompt students to reflect on key topics during a recorded talk or lecture, or for testing their knowledge of a subject they have just watched by using the embedded quiz features.<\/p>\n
