{"id":12246,"date":"2022-03-15T09:00:24","date_gmt":"2022-03-15T09:00:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/microsites.bournemouth.ac.uk\/flie\/?p=12246"},"modified":"2022-03-08T13:45:50","modified_gmt":"2022-03-08T13:45:50","slug":"spotlight-on-the-assessment-and-feedback-toolkit-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/microsites.bournemouth.ac.uk\/flie\/2022\/03\/15\/spotlight-on-the-assessment-and-feedback-toolkit-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Spotlight on the Assessment and Feedback Toolkit (2)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In this week&#8217;s blog the spotlight is on the Formative Assessment section of the Assessment and Feedback Toolkit.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/staffintranet.bournemouth.ac.uk\/aboutbu\/professionalservices\/flie\/assessmentandfeedbacktoolkit\/\">https:\/\/staffintranet.bournemouth.ac.uk\/aboutbu\/professionalservices\/flie\/assessmentandfeedbacktoolkit\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Formative assessment that is aligned with summative assessment tasks can support learning, in line with the BU commitment to assessment <em>for<\/em> learning, \u00a0and provides opportunities for students to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>make sense of assessment criteria<\/li>\n<li>develop their assessment skills and knowledge<\/li>\n<li>receive formative feedback that feeds into specific summative assessment tasks<\/li>\n<li>gain confidence through engaging in &#8216;low stakes&#8217; assessment scenarios.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This section of the Toolkit contains over 20 ideas for designing formative assessment tasks, a summary of 12 principles of good formative assessment and some strategies for student engagement in formative activities.<\/p>\n<p>Two useful external resource sites are:-<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Re-engineering Assessment Practices\" href=\"http:\/\/www.reap.ac.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">www.reap.ac.uk<\/a> (Re-engineering assessment practices) Resources from a Scottish project to encourage the development of students\u2019 abiltity to monitor, manage and self-direct their learning.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Transforming the Experiences of Students Through Assessment\" href=\"http:\/\/www.testa.ac.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">www.testa.ac.uk<\/a>\u00a0 (Transforming the experiences of students through assessment).
