The criteria currently apply to all taught programmes from Level 3 to 7.<\/p>\n<p>Here is the link to the policy document<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/intranetsp.bournemouth.ac.uk\/pandptest\/6f-generic-assessment-criteria-procedure.pdf\">https:\/\/intranetsp.bournemouth.ac.uk\/pandptest\/6f-generic-assessment-criteria-procedure.pdf<\/a><\/p>\n<p>An extract from the policy document:<\/p>\n<p>\u201c1.1 The generic assessment criteria provide an essential frame of reference for the development, review and use of Faculties\u2019 assessment criteria and a means to measure student achievement against specified learning outcomes. As such, they offer a consistent vocabulary for providing feedback to students on their assessment performance. Additional \u2018feedforward\u2019 statements are presented alongside the generic assessment criteria to encourage further learning and academic development. \u201c<\/p>\n<p>It is important to recognise that the Generic Assessment Criteria statements are intended to be supplemented by the markers with assignment-specific, discipline-specific or profession -specific feedback comments. \u00a0An electronic rubric has been developed to be added to the markers\u2019 comments, derived from the Generic Assessment Criteria.<\/p>\n<p>Here is the link to the Brightspace Resources section \u201cUsing turnitin rubrics\u2019<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/brightspace.bournemouth.ac.uk\/d2l\/le\/content\/18315\/viewContent\/750523\/View\">https:\/\/brightspace.bournemouth.ac.uk\/d2l\/le\/content\/18315\/viewContent\/750523\/View<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The policy is underpinned by a <strong>principles-based approach <\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Landscape tables for clarity and ease of comparison between grade bands<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The criteria apply to all taught programmes from Level 3 to 7, with a table for each academic level.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li><strong>Neutral language replaced the previous deficit approach which students had reported as upsetting. <\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The statements refer to the work produced for the assessment and not the student producing it.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li><strong>Importantly, the criteria are based on the principal of assessment <em>for <\/em> <\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>This is a key principle adopted by BU and which also underpins the Assignment Design Policy (Academic Regulations Policies and Procedures 6c). \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/intranetsp.bournemouth.ac.uk\/pandptest\/6c-principles-of-assessment-design-policy.pdf\">https:\/\/intranetsp.bournemouth.ac.uk\/pandptest\/6c-principles-of-assessment-design-policy.pdf<\/a><\/p>\n<ol start=\"4\">\n<li><strong>Common language for all levels <\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>A common set of terminology for each of the grade bands was adopted to encourage a clearer match between the feedback comments provided by the marker and the mark awarded.
