International Women’s Day Networking Event<\/h1>\n

Celebrating International Women\u2019s day – a WAN and CEL co-production!<\/p>\n

International Women\u2019s Day is celebrated on March 8th<\/sup>\u00a0every year. It is a focal point in the movement for women\u2019s rights, and has it origins from 1910 International Socialist Women\u2019s Conference who suggested a Women\u2019s day to be held annually.<\/p>\n

Here at Bournemouth University, the Women\u2019s Academic Network (WAN) arranges an internal event, and the last two years have seen Centre for Excellence in Learning (CEL) collaborate with offering a Technology Enhanced Learning strand as women are underrepresented in technology careers and promotions.<\/p>\n

This year we ran a coding workshop followed by a series of talks on\u00a0Friday 8th March 2019 <\/strong>(International Women’s day) as we aim to build awareness of gender inequalities; build confidence with technology and share the narratives of \u2018uncelebrated\u2019 women. Colleagues were invited to attend either or both of the sessions.<\/p>\n\"International\n
