Thanks for booking your place at this year’s Festival of Learning. We’re looking forward to kicking off all the events and activities on Saturday and welcoming visitors throughout the week.

To ensure that your journey to the Festival is a trouble free one, we’ve put together a few pointers to help you out.

We recommend that where possible you use public transport to travel to events on our Talbot Campus.

Talbot Campus

The address is Fern Barrow, Talbot Campus, Poole, Dorset, BH12 5BB. On arrival please follow the Festival of Learning signs or ask for direction to the Fusion Building.  The Festival of Learning welcome desk is situated inside the Fusion Building, and from here we will direct you to your events.

Don’t forget that improvement works will be taking place on campus, so make sure that you check this page for the latest information before you travel.

Travelling by bus

Festival for the Family – Saturday 8 July &
Festival on the Quay – Sunday 9 July

Register for your free Festival Bus Pass (if you haven’t done so already). This entitles you to a 10% discount on your journey to the Festival with MoreBuses. Show the driver the pass when you board the bus to claim your discount.

Yellow Buses’ Uniline (Red Line) buses also travel to our Talbot Campus & Poole. Please note: Yellow Buses are not covered by the Festival Bus Pass.

Monday 10 July – Wednesday 12 July

All weekday Festival goers are entitled to free travel on the UNIBUS network, including the U1 and U3 services. All you need to do is register for your free Festival Bus Pass (if you haven’t done so already) and show the driver the pass when you board the bus to ensure your fare is free. The UNIBUS runs from Monday to Friday. Please use the vacation timetable only.

Your free Festival Bus Pass also entitles you to a 10% discount on your journey to the Festival with MoreBuses.

Cycling

Bike hoops for visitor cycle parking are available at the front of Poole House. Please bring your own bike lock. Take a look possible cycle routes and maps.

Walking

Travelling by rail

Festival visitors arriving by train into Bournemouth can travel free from Dorchester House (a short <5 minute walk) on the U1 UNIBUS service with a Festival Bus Pass.

Off-Campus events

The Executive Business Centre at BU’s Lansdowne Campus is a 5-minute walk from Bournemouth Travel Interchange which is well served by buses and trains from across the region.

Very limited parking is available, with pay and display parking nearby on Cotlands Road.
