As a European prehistorian, Tim is best known for his publications on prehistoric Britain, archaeological
excavations in Britain, and studies of the way that archaeological sites are managed. He is one of the
leading authorities on Stonehenge and led an excavation inside the circles. He is currently focusing
his attention on the origins and meaning of the Pembrokeshire bluestones used in the construction of
Stonehenge.
Beyond Britain, he has worked on projects exploring aspects of the Neolithic in Russia, Greece, Germany
and Malta. Tim has given local, regional and national TV and radio interviews.
He was appointed an OBE in the 2010 Queen’s Birthday Honours for services to Archaeology.
