William’s research interests and expertise are in the areas of media franchising, popular culture and branding. He has written widely on television, film and music including topics such as Star Wars, Batman, James Bond, Spider-Man, The Walking Dead, One Direction fans, and film remakes and adaptations.
He also has a particular interest in Nordic noir film and television and is Director of The World Star Wars Project, a five-year study of Disney, Lucasfilm and the Star Wars phenomenon.
William has been interviewed for broadcast and print media such as Channel 5 News and the Bournemouth Echo on subjects including Terry Pratchett and fan fiction, Star Wars, and the NSPCC’s pornography project.
