{"id":2436,"date":"2015-12-17T09:26:48","date_gmt":"2015-12-17T09:26:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.bournemouth.ac.uk\/etourismlab\/?post_type=tribe_events&amp;p=2436"},"modified":"2015-12-17T09:26:48","modified_gmt":"2015-12-17T09:26:48","slug":"global-buzz-europe-celebrating-bus-engagement-with-europe","status":"publish","type":"tribe_events","link":"https:\/\/microsites.bournemouth.ac.uk\/etourism-lab\/event\/global-buzz-europe-celebrating-bus-engagement-with-europe\/","title":{"rendered":"Global BUzz Europe: celebrating BU\u2019s engagement with Europe"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Event Description<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p>On 17<sup>th<\/sup> December 2015, we will be hosting a special event that celebrates the University\u2019s engagement with Europe.\u00a0 We\u2019ll also be creating a buzz on campus throughout the day with a series of events, talks and traditional festive activities, including food and entertainment.<br \/>\nThe event will be an opportunity to showcase Bournemouth University\u2019s on-going research and engagements across Europe and to hear about the experiences of our students from Europe who are studying in Bournemouth and those who have travelled there as part of their degree.<br \/>\nThe event is also open to regional stakeholders from organisations and businesses across the wider area that have a particular interest in Europe as a result of operations, clients or relationships that they have on the continent.<!--more--><br \/>\nArrival is from 10 a.m. with the formal programme starting\u00a0at 10:30 a.m. Further details and confirmation of our guest speaker will be published shortly.\u00a0 The formal programme will be followed by an opportunity for informal networking and some traditional festive European food.<\/p>\n<p>We are delighted that Nuno Almeida, Founder and CEO of, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nourishcare.co.uk\/#systems-and-applications-designed-for-caring-1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Nourish Care Systems<\/a>, will be joining us as our guest speaker.\u00a0Nuno is a serial entrepreneur with a track-record of building sustainable global technology ventures and\u00a0is an advisor for the European Commission on matters related to innovation funding, primarily in health and social care technologies.<\/p>\n<p>Staff from across BU will also be giving short insights into their recent and on-going work:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Dr Philip Alford \u2013 The benefits of digitisation for small and medium enterprises<\/li>\n<li>Melanie Gray \u2013 Media Brands: a European Perspective<\/li>\n<li>Professor Bogdan Gabrys \u2013 A decade of BU\u2019s European collaborations in the areas of data science, machine learning, computational intelligence and smart technologies<\/li>\n<li>Dr Stephanie Schwandner-Sievers \u2013 Re-thinking post-war conflict resolution through gaming technology<\/li>\n<li>Professor Dimitrios Buhalis \u2013 European Commission sponsored eTourism at BU<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There will also be a chance to hear from students from mainland Europe who are currently studying at BU about their experiences and why they chose Bournemouth.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Date<\/strong>: Thursday 17<sup>th<\/sup> December 2015<\/p>\n<p><strong>Time<\/strong>: 10 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Location:<\/strong> Bournemouth University, Kimmeridge House, Talbot Campus Fern Barrow, Poole BH12 5BB<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Event Description: On 17th December 2015, we will be hosting a special event that celebrates the University\u2019s engagement with Europe.\u00a0 We\u2019ll also be creating a buzz on campus throughout the&#8230;
