SUMMARY:Global BUzz Europe: celebrating BU’s engagement with Europe
DESCRIPTION:Event Description: \nOn 17th December 2015\, we will be hosting a special event that celebrates the University’s engagement with Europe.  We’ll also be creating a buzz on campus throughout the day with a series of events\, talks and traditional festive activities\, including food and entertainment.\nThe event will be an opportunity to showcase Bournemouth University’s on-going research and engagements across Europe and to hear about the experiences of our students from Europe who are studying in Bournemouth and those who have travelled there as part of their degree.\nThe event is also open to regional stakeholders from organisations and businesses across the wider area that have a particular interest in Europe as a result of operations\, clients or relationships that they have on the continent.\nArrival is from 10 a.m. with the formal programme starting at 10:30 a.m. Further details and confirmation of our guest speaker will be published shortly.  The formal programme will be followed by an opportunity for informal networking and some traditional festive European food. \nWe are delighted that Nuno Almeida\, Founder and CEO of\, Nourish Care Systems\, will be joining us as our guest speaker. Nuno is a serial entrepreneur with a track-record of building sustainable global technology ventures and is an advisor for the European Commission on matters related to innovation funding\, primarily in health and social care technologies. \nStaff from across BU will also be giving short insights into their recent and on-going work: \n\nDr Philip Alford – The benefits of digitisation for small and medium enterprises\nMelanie Gray – Media Brands: a European Perspective\nProfessor Bogdan Gabrys – A decade of BU’s European collaborations in the areas of data science\, machine learning\, computational intelligence and smart technologies\nDr Stephanie Schwandner-Sievers – Re-thinking post-war conflict resolution through gaming technology\nProfessor Dimitrios Buhalis – European Commission sponsored eTourism at BU\n\nThere will also be a chance to hear from students from mainland Europe who are currently studying at BU about their experiences and why they chose Bournemouth. \nDate: Thursday 17th December 2015 \nTime: 10 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. \nLocation: Bournemouth University\, Kimmeridge House\, Talbot Campus Fern Barrow\, Poole BH12 5BB

SUMMARY:BU Tourism Futures Forum @ WTM2013
DESCRIPTION:Bournemouth University tourism experts organise again the BU Tourism Futures Forum @ WTM2013 and engage leading tourism practitioners from around the world on an interactive discussion to examine the future of tourism. The global challenges and opportunities for both tourism destinations and suppliers around the world require innovation in management and operations\, calling for a major rethinking of both strategic and tactical Tourism Management. The Tourism Futures Forum will provide an insight into the future dimensions of the tourism industry. It examines major trends in tourism demand and supply and explores the strategic changes that lead to the international tourism industry restructuring. The Forum will be organised by The University of Bournemouth in partnership with the World Travel Market and the TravelDailyNews are organising this forum to facilitate debate about the key strategic changes and to engage in a discussion about the successful response of the industry. The event will involve two short research-based presentations to stimulate discussion.
