Alongside our research expertise, our staff base is built around industry experience and expertise. Many of our staff have come into academia after successful careers in marketing, advertising and PR. Moreover, we retain very strong links with industry through commercial activities (see below), industry competitions and student placements.
The group has been successful in recent years in commercializing our expertise. In 2010 we launched the Creative Enterprise Bureau (CEB), which draws upon staff and student expertise within the group to deliver a range of commercial services including:
- Academic research and insights
- Marketing consultancy
- Sector intelligence reports
- Skills training courses
- Student temp placements
Through the CEB we have worked for such clients as ITV, The Mirror Group, JC Decaux, Samsung, and Toyota. A two-year longitudinal study we did with Channel 4 supplied the insights for their multi-award winning Paralympics marketing campaign and coverage, and the insights won the 2013 Marketing Society Consumer Insights award.
