It was with great pleasure that I presented the award for Best in Media School 2012-13 Placement Student to AMC student Garry Hendry. Completing his placement year as the Sales Development and Digital Distribution Intern at Disney in London, he didn’t fail to impress. Not only was he the first intern in this area, his approach to work and great attention to detail were quickly noticed by his supervisor and team. This led to greater reliance, responsibility, and trust in his abilities.
During the placement year, his key achievements included the creation of a new system of reconciling client reports of On Demand subscriber numbers and product usage and creating an internal business case for local language localisation of the company non-video products. He also played a large role in the digital budget submissions and helped revamp the internal template used in the process. He compiled and scheduled Disney’s first full branded product for Ukraine and undertook a detailed study of the Balkans market to inform future sales decisions. These key successes, along with his regular tasks of revamping the B2B marketing emails, producing pitch presentations, creating availability lists, reviewing the digital pricing structure, and compiling a competitor price structure, helped prove Garry to be an excellent ambassador and role model for the AMC course, CMC framework, and the University as a whole.
