Patents are an essential mechanism for promoting innovation and technology transfer in the sector, but they also pose challenges, such as limited access to patented technologies for small-scale farmers. This chapter deals with the challenges and opportunities for promoting sustainable innovation and technology transfer in the food and agriculture sector, including case studies of successful patents and technology transfer.
