{"id":5122,"date":"2017-03-01T20:50:19","date_gmt":"2017-03-01T20:50:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/microsites.bournemouth.ac.uk\/cippm\/?p=5122"},"modified":"2017-04-10T20:51:10","modified_gmt":"2017-04-10T20:51:10","slug":"regulating-isp-in-china-dissemination-conference-in-beijing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/microsites.bournemouth.ac.uk\/cippm\/2017\/03\/01\/regulating-isp-in-china-dissemination-conference-in-beijing\/","title":{"rendered":"Regulating ISP in China: dissemination conference in Beijing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>CIPPM and University of China Academy of Sciences held the dissemination conference of the project <a href=\"http:\/\/microsites.bournemouth.ac.uk\/cippm\/2016\/01\/12\/4394\/\">\u201cRegulating Internet Intermediaries in China: Legal and Empirical Evidence for better policy making\u201d<\/a> in New World Hotel, Beijing on 26<sup>th<\/sup> February 2017.\u00a0 The project is funded by Arts &amp; Humanities Research Council UK and managed by the AHRC Centre for Digital Copyright and IP Research in China, Ningbo. \u00a0Led by <a href=\"http:\/\/microsites.bournemouth.ac.uk\/cippm\/2014\/05\/13\/lingling-wei\/\">Dr Lingling Wei<\/a>, the project team consists of CIPPM researchers (Professor Maurizio Borghi, Dr Fabian and Dr Marcella Favale) and UCAS researchers (Professor Shunde Li and Dr Xianjue Luo).<\/p>\n<p>IP protection problems as the result of Internet-based technology and business innovation have wide repercussions on economic growth, consumer interests and cultural prosperity. This project has therefore addressed the question of how China could develop a regulatory framework that<\/p>\n<p>(1)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 adequately protects IP interests<\/p>\n<p>(2)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 is compatible with the business models of Internet intermediaries<\/p>\n<p>(3)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 is responsive to the interests of consumers, in particular the poor<\/p>\n<p>(4)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 is consistent with the public interest in economic growth and technology and business innovation<\/p>\n<p>Around 60 people attended the conferences, who were academic researchers, research students, Chinese officials and industry stake holders.\u00a0 The CIPPM team (Dr Lingling Wei, Professor Maurizio Borghi, Dr Fabian and Dr Marcella Favale) presented the project findings. Prof Maurizio Borghi then led a roundtable discussion participated by the leading judge from Beijing Intellectual Property Court, the officials from Trademark Office of the State Administration for Industry and Commerce of China and National Copyright Administration of China, and representatives from\u00a0 IFPI, JingDong, Alibaba and Tencent.
