{"id":4784,"date":"2016-06-30T10:59:23","date_gmt":"2016-06-30T10:59:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/microsites.bournemouth.ac.uk\/cippm\/?p=4784"},"modified":"2016-08-23T22:00:16","modified_gmt":"2016-08-23T22:00:16","slug":"making-sense-of-diligent-search","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/microsites.bournemouth.ac.uk\/cippm\/2016\/06\/30\/making-sense-of-diligent-search\/","title":{"rendered":"Making sense of Diligent Search"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/microsites.bournemouth.ac.uk\/cippm\/2015\/06\/02\/endow\/\">EnDOW<\/a> workshop on the diligent search requirement and crowd-sourcing took place at the I<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ivir.nl\/\">nstitute for Information Law (IViR) in Amsterdam <\/a>on 30 June 2016.<\/p>\n<p>The programme\u00a0of the workshop is available <a href=\"http:\/\/diligentsearch.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/EnDow-workshop.pdf\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The working group was composed by the project participants, the members of the advisory board and experts and practitioners of the relevant sector. Overall, 30 participants took part to the workshop.<\/p>\n<p>Three main presentations opened a very useful and enriching discussion focused on the diligent search requirement and the process of crowd-sourcing.<\/p>\n<p>Firstly, Maurizio Borghi briefly summarized how a diligent search must be carried out, stressing the requirements provided by the European Directive on orphan works, their ambiguities and possible interpretation.<\/p>\n<p>Then, Maarten Zeistra focused on the crowdsourcing, trying to figure out how to made this mechanism effective and efficient and providing the group with examples in this sense.<\/p>\n<p>The third presentation has been made by Gyta Berasniviciute of EUIPO\u00a0which provided the group with an overview on the implementation of the Orphan Works Database, its interface and mode of operation.
