{"id":4669,"date":"2016-05-09T15:24:32","date_gmt":"2016-05-09T15:24:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/microsites.bournemouth.ac.uk\/cippm\/?p=4669"},"modified":"2016-08-07T22:51:16","modified_gmt":"2016-08-07T22:51:16","slug":"tenth-wipo-advanced-intellectual-property-research-forum","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/microsites.bournemouth.ac.uk\/cippm\/2016\/05\/09\/tenth-wipo-advanced-intellectual-property-research-forum\/","title":{"rendered":"Tenth WIPO Advanced Intellectual Property Research Forum"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>The theory and practice of Intellectual Property &#8211; taking stock and looking ahead<\/h3>\n<h3>Geneva, 24-26 May 2016<\/h3>\n<blockquote><p><strong>&gt;<em>&gt; Download the programme <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wipo.int\/meetings\/en\/details.jsp?meeting_id=40122\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The purpose of the seminar this year is to critically examine recent developments in the theory and practice of Intellectual Property (IP).<\/p>\n<p>The last two decades have been characterized by ubiquitous emergence of new theories and critical approaches regarding the roles, functions, justifications and structure of IP law.\u00a0Human Rights Law, Empirical Studies, Development Law, Political Economy, Trade Law, Moral Philosophy, Semiotics, Behavioral Economics and Cultural studies are just a handful of examples for new research disciplines that are being utilized to examine and analyze IP law.\u00a0Concurrently, the practice of IP law has also undergone significant transformations with the emergence of new international treaties and new doctrinal tools (e.g. the legal protection of technological protection measures, new developments in the context of third parties\u2019 liability, the emerging role of the proportionality requirement, new approaches to exemptions and limitations etc.).<\/p>\n<p>The purpose of this year\u2019s seminar is to cover a variety of topics &#8211; both doctrinal and theoretical \u2013 that touch upon recent developments in the theory and practice of IP.\u00a0In addition to theoretical, doctrinal, comparative and positive analysis, papers may also cover and touch upon empirical, international and interdisciplinary dimensions.\u00a0Papers may\u00a0focus on a particular doctrinal aspect as well as on broader dimensions and subjects.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>This year, CIPPM will contribute to the Forum with four papers:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/microsites.bournemouth.ac.uk\/cippm\/2015\/10\/01\/matej-gera\/\">Matej Gera<\/a> \u00a0<strong>\u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/microsites.bournemouth.ac.uk\/cippm\/2016\/05\/10\/matej-gera-state-of-the-extended-collective-licensing-in-europe-changes-and-prospects\/\">State of the Extended Collective Licensing in Europe: Changes and Prospects<\/a>\u201d<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/microsites.bournemouth.ac.uk\/cippm\/2014\/02\/19\/maurizio-borghi\/\">Maurizio Borghi<\/a> <strong>\u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/microsites.bournemouth.ac.uk\/cippm\/2016\/05\/10\/maurizio-borghi-the-use-of-the-work-as-work-a-viable-test-for-copyright-infringement\/\">The use of the work as work: a viable test for copyright infringement?<\/a>\u201d<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/microsites.bournemouth.ac.uk\/cippm\/2014\/05\/13\/sally-weston\/\">Sally Weston<\/a> <strong>\u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/microsites.bournemouth.ac.uk\/cippm\/2016\/05\/10\/sally-weston-promoting-interoperability\/\">Promoting interoperability<\/a>\u201d<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/microsites.bournemouth.ac.uk\/cippm\/2014\/04\/23\/dinusha-mendis\/\">Dinusha Mendis<\/a> <strong>\u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/microsites.bournemouth.ac.uk\/cippm\/2016\/05\/10\/dinusha-mendis-copyright-and-punishment\/\">Copyright and Punishment<\/a>\u201d<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>The Advanced Intellectual Property Research Forum is organized by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the Faculty of Law, Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel, in cooperation with (the participating Academic Institutions):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Metropolitan University Prague<\/li>\n<li>Jagiellonian University of Krakow, Poland<\/li>\n<li>Center for Intellectual Property policy, McGill University School of Law, Montr\u00e9al<\/li>\n<li>George Washington University Law School, Washington D.C.
