An animated film on Copyrightuser.org<\/a> titled The Adventure of the Girl with the Light Blue Hair<\/em><\/a> won an AHRC Research in Film Award<\/a> on 12 November 2015 at an Awards Ceremony hosted at the British Film Institute, Southbank London.<\/p>\n\"Fim\n

Copyrightuser.org<\/a> is an\u00a0online resource, which makes copyright law accessible to creators, teachers, students and members of the public. The project began with Bournemouth University\u2019s Fusion Investment Fund<\/a> in 2012 after which, the project has been successfully funded by RCUK\/AHRC since 2013.<\/p>\n

It is a collaborative project carried out by the Centre for Intellectual Property Policy and Management (CIPPM)<\/a> Bournemouth University and CREATe<\/a>, University of Glasgow.<\/p>\n

The animated film was short-listed for the AHRC 10th<\/sup> Anniversary Research in Film Award<\/em> within the category Award for Innovation in Film \u2013 Best Film in the Year<\/a> and beat another four contenders to win the award.<\/p>\n

The panel of judges \u2013 consisting of industry and academic experts such as film director Beeban Kidron, Financial Times<\/em> Arts Editor Jan Dalley, and actor and producer Diana Quick \u2013 described the film as \u201ca well-constructed, quality animation addressing issues of creativity, IP and copyright for schools and undergraduates: lively, engaging, witty (\u00e0 la Sherlock Holmes mode), informative and educating at the same time.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Adventure of the Girl with the Light Blue Hair<\/em><\/a> is the first episode of The Game is On!<\/em>, web series and is produced by Mr. Bartolomeo Melett<\/a>i (CREATe, University of Glasgow) and Professor Ronan Deazley<\/a> (Queens University Belfast). The film draws inspiration from Sherlock Holmes and other well-known copyright and public\u00a0domain works and provides a springboard for exploring various copyright concepts.<\/p>\n

It forms part of a suite of online learning materials for students and teachers in the UK while educating the wider public about what can and cannot be done with copyright works. To achieve this aim, researchers working on Copyrightuser.org<\/a> produced both video and textual material.<\/p>\n

The animated film is enhanced by 12 \u2018Case Files\u2019 authored by\u00a0Dr. Dinusha Mendis<\/a> and Ms. Hayleigh Bosher<\/a> (CIPPM, Bournemouth University) and which draws on the various elements of the film to explore key principles and ideas underpinning copyright law, creativity, and the limits of lawful appropriation and reuse.<\/p>\n

The educational materials also include Copyright for A Level Media Studies<\/em><\/a> authored by Ms. Hayleigh Bosher<\/a> and Dr. Dinusha Mendis<\/a> (CIPPM, Bournemouth University) \u2013 an educational web resource which addresses the AS\/A Level Unit Critical Perspectives in Media, Section B: Contemporary Media Issues.<\/em><\/p>\n
