{"id":4047,"date":"2015-09-22T08:33:58","date_gmt":"2015-09-22T08:33:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/microsites.bournemouth.ac.uk\/cippm\/?p=4047"},"modified":"2025-01-02T16:28:34","modified_gmt":"2025-01-02T16:28:34","slug":"cippm-co-director-dr-dinusha-mendis-contributes-to-fp7-mapping-project-in-hannover","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/microsites.bournemouth.ac.uk\/cippm\/2015\/09\/22\/cippm-co-director-dr-dinusha-mendis-contributes-to-fp7-mapping-project-in-hannover\/","title":{"rendered":"CIPPM Co-Director Dr. Dinusha Mendis contributes to FP7 MAPPING Project in Hannover"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On 22-23 September 2015, Dr. Dinusha Mendis was invited to the <a href=\"http:\/\/mappingtheinternet.eu\/node\/102\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">First General Assembly of the FP7-funded MAPPING Project<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mappingtheinternet.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MAPPING<\/a> &#8211; <strong>M<\/strong>anaging <strong>A<\/strong>lternatives for <strong>P<\/strong>rivacy, <strong>P<\/strong>roperty and <strong>In<\/strong>ternet <strong>G<\/strong>overnance &#8211; held its First General Assembly on 22-23 September at Hannover Congress Centrum.<\/p>\n<p>The event brought together stakeholders from three key areas including Internet Governance, Privacy and Intellectual Property.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Mendis took part in the Intellectual Property Panel and contributed to the discussion in the Panel titled <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mappingtheinternet.eu\/FGA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">&#8216;The EU IP Reform: Unlocking Culture, Stimulating Progress&#8217;.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Other speakers on the Panel included Benjamin Jean (President of Inno); Joris Pekel (Community Coordinator, Cultural Heritage); Gabriele Scipione (Head of Persistent Identifier, Rights Information and Open data, CINECA); Charlotte Waelde (Professor of Intellectual Property Law, University of Exeter); Nicolas Jondet (Teaching Fellow, University of Edinburgh) and\u00a0Rihards Gulbis, Scientific Adviser, Department of Civil Cases, Supreme Court of Latvia, former legal counsel at the Ministry of Culture, Latvia.<\/p>\n<p>The Hannover 2015 General Assembly also hosted a panel presentation by the new <strong>UN Special Rapporteur on Privacy<\/strong>, Professor Joe Cannataci; his first public speech before a live audience since he took up this new UN mandate on 1st August 2015.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/microsites.bournemouth.ac.uk\/cippm\/files\/2015\/10\/Screen-Shot-2015-10-09-at-09.50.51.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-4048\" src=\"https:\/\/microsites.bournemouth.ac.uk\/cippm\/files\/2015\/10\/Screen-Shot-2015-10-09-at-09.50.51-300x144.png\" alt=\"Screen Shot 2015-10-09 at 09.50.51\" width=\"300\" height=\"144\" srcset=\"https:\/\/microsites.bournemouth.ac.uk\/cippm\/files\/2015\/10\/Screen-Shot-2015-10-09-at-09.50.51-300x144.png 300w, https:\/\/microsites.bournemouth.ac.uk\/cippm\/files\/2015\/10\/Screen-Shot-2015-10-09-at-09.50.51.png 906w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On 22-23 September 2015, Dr. Dinusha Mendis was invited to the First General Assembly of the FP7-funded MAPPING Project.
