The Heidelberg Center for the Environment (HCE) and Momentum Novum are organizing the Sustainable Development in Action (SDiA) Conference in the historical city of Heidelberg from November 1 to 3, 2018.

Designed as a forum through which both individuals and organisations (incl. HEIs) will engage with turning sustainability into concrete actions, participants will learn more about key areas of sustainable development from national and international experts. Additionally, they will directly put what they learned into practice in specially designed “Action Labs”, which include a start-up lab, a simulation of the COP 24, a scenario workshop, and a design thinking workshop.

An integral part of the program is also the opening ceremony in the Mathematikon, an official reception hosted by Heidelberg’s Mayor, Prof. Dr. Eckart Würzner, in the Heidelberg City Hall, and the ceremonial closing ceremony in the Great Hall, Heidelberg University’s magnificent historic auditorium.

The conference fee of €100.00 per person includes the participation in the workshops, Action Labs, and all accompanying events, as well as a welcome pack, and three official dinner receptions. For delegations of five or more people, the participation fee will be reduced to €70.00 per person. The Holiday Inn Express Heidelberg City Center Hotel offers all SDiA participants reduced prices of €79.00 per room per night (incl. breakfast). In addition, the bike sharing company Nextbike will provide all participants with free bicycles throughout the duration of the SDiA conference. In honour of the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer on September 16, 2018, we will be offering reduced tickets for the SDiA conference for only €70.00. Online registration is possible here.

Given your reputation as a leader in HE environmental sustainability, I wanted to extend an invitation so that you may pass it on to any colleagues whom may be interested in attending. With a diverse mixture of speakers, it would be appropriate for both academic/professional services staff members as well as students engaged in the area. Momentum Novum’s work is primarily around providing consultancy services to organisations on achieving sustainability goals so we hope the conference will serve as a forum through which institutions can share best practice and their own innovations in the sector.

All details on the SDiA 2018 conference, including the preliminary programme, as well as an official welcoming address from Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs Heiko Maas can be found on the website www.sdia.eu.

Do reach out should you have any questions or wish to discuss our work further.

Kind regards,

Max Lacey
