8th Annual UK and Ireland PASS/PAL Conference, Cork

Following the amazing 7th Annual UK and Ireland PASS/PAL Leader Conference held at BU in 2016 this year’s annual conference in November took the PAL Team, including four BU students (Jessica Jones, Franceska De Ruyter, Joshua Carr and Katrin Mahfuz), to the Cork Institute of Technology.  Delegates from 24 universities and institutes of higher education from the UK, Ireland, Sweden and Germany together explored peer assisted learning in action and celebrated The Power of We.

Having returned home with many ideas, new skills and acquired knowledge, enthused by thoughtful speakers, team challenges, parallel sessions and workshops, we hope to harness some of those experiences to help us to further enhance BU’s own sector leading PAL Scheme, that was highlighted in our 2017 TEF Silver Award.

As well as expertly representing BU at the conference our student PAL Leaders, have been inspired through their learning, to compile their own reflective blog posts and PAL session outlines for other PAL Leaders to use.  Find out more about the conference and some of the learning via this year’s interactive PASS/PAL Leader Conference 2017 Mahara portfolio, largely compiled by our PAL Student Placement Intern, Katrin Mahfuz.

To find out more about how PAL works at BU take a look at the videos on the Peer-Assisted Learning web page or make contact with the PAL Team via the PAL email.
