Business Emotional Intelligence: The way to perform better and achieve more

Paul Miller from The Mental Muscle Company delivered an upbeat and engaging talk to a local CIPD meeting last Thursday evening at the EBC. Paul discussed the benefits of using the power of Emotional Intelligence (EI) to enable organisations to gain competitive advantage by building a successful, positive and motivated workforce.

Paul introduced the Emotions and Behaviours at Work assessment (EBW) that has been researched, tried and tested in a number of Blue Chip companies over the past 15 years with fantastic results. The EBW (according to Paul) provides a highly accurate and reliable assessment of EI in the workplace, enabling businesses to better understand why people behave the way they do and to maximise employee engagement and performance.

The event provided a great networking opportunity with HR professionals from local businesses as well as academics from BU and other institutions. To my surprise, I had the pleasure of bumping into an FE lecturer who supervised a project I completed on the Certificate of Personnel Practices Programme at Bournemouth and Poole College many moons ago. It was lovely to catch up, exchange emails and hopefully work together again in the future.
