Changes to UK Copyright Law

In 2011, the government initiated the Hargreaves Review; an independent review of intellectual property, carried out by Professor Ian Hargreaves.

The UK government is now considering making changes to the existing Copyright, Designs and Patents Act (CDPA 1988). CIPPM has created a series of short videos to explore some of these proposals and the arguments on both sides of the debate. In particular, the goal is to help users and members of the public understand possible changes to UK copyright law. The videos focus on areas of concern to private users: copying, parody, remix, archiving and digital rights management (DRM).

Several CIPPM reports dealing with copyright exceptions are available online.

The videos were created by Bartolomeo Meletti, with support from the Department of Law at Bournemouth University. Animation and editing by Marco Bagni, filming, voice over and animation sound design by Nathan Revill @Creative and Illustration by Danilo Recevic.
