In the morning, speakers and panel guests will cover the threat landscape, and the latest in intellectual property, privacy and information sharing.  A lunch will be provided, followed by an afternoon covering awareness and training of staff, assurance frameworks such as ISO 27001, cyber insurance, and excellent opportunities for knowledge transfer.

  This talk will cover some of the main data privacy points to consider when looking at any data protection issue, followed by brief consideration of cloud technologies as an example.

Organised by final year BA (Hons) Marketing students at Bournemouth University, this is the seventh annual Mike Warne Marketing Communications lecture – a key date in the Chartered Institute of Marketing’s event diary for local marketing practitioners, business professionals and students.

This year’s topic is ‘innovation’ and speakers from the three very different companies will be taking the stand discussing what innovation means to them and their business:

Microsoft

Commercial marketing communications director, Tara Powadiuk, is responsible for leading the development of multi-million dollar marketing initiatives.

Lush

Poole’s cosmetics success story, which has 870 shops in 51 countries, is sending their creative team, Adam Goswell and Katrina Johnson, to explain the brand’s innovation and creativity and how they communicate digitally to a global audience.

Metail

Also presenting is Tom Adeyoola, CEO and founder of Metail, the company behind the virtual fitting room that takes the guess work out of buying clothes online and is now being snapped up by online retailers.

The School of Applied Sciences is organising a range of employability events and past experience tells us that one thing our Science students really find useful is hearing from graduates like you. Could you lend a hand by giving a short, informal talk at one of our ‘speed-updating’ events?

‘Speed-updating’ involves speaking for just five minutes (no slides or pictures) to our students about a potential career in your area.  We’re after your own personal insight and advice on working within your profession, emphasising the need for volunteering, other field experience or further study - essentially whatever you feel is relevant that will make these new graduates stand out. (You can see what sort of things were covered at a past event.)

Our aim is for the event to be relaxed but informative and upbeat and even though employment prospects for graduates are gloomy we would like our current students to have some positive examples of what is possible.  We will encourage students to have a chat at the end over wine and pizza.
